Biography: Born in Napier, NZ, Aston was completely self taught. At an early art competition, the judges did not believe it was his work. He was locked in a private room with pencil and paper and produced work that amazed the judges. He later served in the New Zealand army during WWII in North Africa and Italy. His artwork was wanted by fellow soldiers to send home to their families.
